This is a brand new oil feed line with an updated design in accordance with BMW technical service bulletin SI B11 11 16. This updated design (BMW part number 11 42 8 678 840) has a check valve that cuts off oil supply to the turbo once the engine is shut off, preventing oil from flowing into the turbo when the bearing is no longer spinning. This issue would cause oil to leak into the exhaust housing of the turbo, which would in turn cause a plume of blue smoke to come out of the exhaust for a few seconds after the car was cold-started several hours later. This oil line fits the following vehicles included in this TSB:
2012 328i Sedan with a production date between 10/19/2011 and 7/20/2012
2012 and 2013 528i Sedan with a production date between 8/22/2011 and 6/27/2013
