This brand new Switchblade Turbocharger is based on the popular BorgWarner 171702 design, including its standardized T6 exhaust flange and infinitely adjustable compressor housing to make it easier to fit on a wide variety of heavy duty diesel engines. Switchblade turbos feature a moving vane inside the exhaust housing that operates like the variable-geometry turbochargers found on modern diesels – but instead of an electronic actuator controlling the movement of VGT vanes, the Switchblade system is powered by air intake pressure, similar to a wastegate actuator, making it easier to add to less computerized engines. The moving vane inside the exhaust housing simulates a smaller turbo at low RPM and low boost, helping the turbo spool faster. When more air is flowing at higher RPM, the vane opens up to allow more exhaust flow and make more top-end power. The Switchblade turbo provides a more flexible powerband and promises better fuel economy. This model includes a 75mm compressor wheel, exhaust flange gasket, oil line gaskets and a one year, unlimited mileage warranty.
